Xtreme Archive - KnO2wledge VII

29th Mar 2017

During our time in Nepal for the 10th Anniversary trek, we were delighted to be invited to speak to colleagues from the Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal over a two day conference. The two day conference has been named KnO2wledge Kathmandu: Oxygen as part of our popular KnO2wledge lecture series. This year's KnO2wledge 10 will take place over two day in London at the Royal Society of Medicine. More information can be found here

Members of the core team have spent the last two days giving an overview of the Xtreme Everest research and sharing our knowledge on such subjects as fluid therapy, oxygen therapy and prescribing exercise as an alternative to pills. Photos of our time at the conference will be available shortly on our website within the the XEX galleries.

When Xtreme Everest were in Nepal in 2012, we were invited to speak by the same group as part of our KnOw2ledge VII programme, so it seems only fitting we dig into the archives and revisit our first time here.

It is the 19 May 2012 and in London, the SS Great Britain is floating on a bed of green jelly. The brainchild of the Jellmongers the unique piece of art was for a two day exhibition. Elsewhere in the USA, orphaned baby squirrel Bushytail was adopted by new mother Oreo the cat, and instantly gained five new siblings..

Meanwhile in Kathmandu, members of the core team were speaking to colleagues at the Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal about our work.

Xtreme Everest and The Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal held a one-day conference at the Summit Hotel, Kathmandu, Nepal today. The conference, attended by over 90 delegates, was held to present data from Xtreme Everest medical research expeditions to the Nepalese medical community. The conference was chaired by Dr Buddha Basnyat, Professor Monty Mythen, and Dr Dan Martin.

Lectures throughout the day were lively, and generated lots of discussion. Xtreme Everest is looking forward to collaborating with the Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal in the future.
