A new study called Measurement of total haemoglobin mass using the optimised carbon monoxide rebreathing method is looking for participants. All that is required is 30 minutes of your time and a blood test. Testing is taking place on a Wednesday or Friday in central London.

Brief synopsis of the research study

Haemoglobin concentration [ is a routine and well-established measurement in medicine. However, the measurement of [ can be affected by many factors that may impact its accuracy. A recently developed test measures the total amount of haemoglobin in the body (tHbmass), which may provide a better, more accurate way of quantifying the oxygen carrying capacity of blood. The aim of this study is to determine whether [ is a reliable index of tHbmass in healthy adults and across a range of different disease groups.

Inclusion criteria

  • Aged 18 years or older
  • You must be free from chronic medical conditions.
