Mark Wilson is flying high after wining Air Ambulance Doctor of the Year

Congratulations to Xtreme Everest's Mark Wilson who was recently named Air Ambulance Doctor of the Year at the annual Air Ambulance Awards of Excellence 2016.

BBC News reporter and presenter Sophie Long and Helicopter Heroes presenter Rav Wilding presented Mark Wilson with his award, along with 10 other award winning individuals and teams.

Mark is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and PreHospital Care Specialist who works with Imperial College (mainly St Mary's Major Trauma Centre) and on London's Air Ambulance. He has also worked extensively overseas in India, Nepal, South Africa, Australia as well as working as a researcher at NASA. In addition to working with the Xtreme Everest expeditions, he has also worked on expeditions undertaken in the Arctic.

On top of his clinical commitments, he also finds the time to develop web based referral systems, and is a founder of the GoodSam app which allows alerters to dial the emergency services, and at the same time notify nearby medically qualified responders of a medical emergency
